FinWELL partner with MidKent College to train apprentices on financial education and wellbeing via local leading employers
The FinWELL Team are delighted to have partnered with MidKent College to offer financial education and wellbeing training to apprentices directly and via leading local employers.
This comes at the perfect time while celebrating National Apprenticeship Week and also the launch of FinWELL’s focus on apprentices, young adults and early careers.
We caught up with Justine Piercy who is the Head of Training at FinWELL and is extremely passionate about up-skilling the next generation.
She shared, ‘A number of our clients asked if we could design some CPD certified training specifically tailored to those entering the workplace at an early career level.
We obviously agreed and set about creating an initial two hour training module that could be delivered both online and in-person.
This was to cover the basics such as payslips, tax, national insurance, credit and debt but also explore what healthy financial wellbeing actually looks and feels like and the important links to mental and physical health.”
Collaborative Partnerships and a Voluntary Advisory Board
We also caught up with FinWELL Founder, Ryan Briggs who told us. ‘The reaction has been amazing and things have progressed quickly so there’s obviously a huge need and appetite for this across the board.’
He went on, ‘We did some pilot cohorts towards the end of 2025 and then launched our open dates from January and throughout 2026.’
He added, ‘We were delighted to then get the chance to collaborate with the AoA - Association of Apprentices along with various regions of the AAN - Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network helping us reach even more apprentices.
It was suggested that we create a voluntary advisory board to ensure the highest possible standards and we can now bring voices together and hear from apprentices themselves, apprentice employers and specialist consultants.’
From West Ham United to MidKent College
This was particularly poignant for Ryan as he actually attended MidKent College almost thirty years ago as a day release business studies student, while training with West Ham United FC from the age of 16-18.
He will now join the MidKent College Alumni Group sharing stories and experiences to try and inspire the next generation of talent.
Becky Farley is the Director of Stakeholder Relationships at the College and said, ‘As part of our ongoing commitment to support our apprentices in the workplace, MidKent College are proud to be working with FinWELL to offer spaces on their Financial Wellbeing Foundation Training to our partnership employers.’
